"Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn" Pub Day!

Today is publishing day for "Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn"! The publisher is Macmillan/Henry Holt, and you can find our picture book at most book stores and on-line retailers. Based on memories of my mother's long walks into Maryland's forests and parks, "Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn" is about a young girl and her friends as they walk through the woods and a local town. On their day out, they see the deep greens of summer change to the ruddy, glowing warm colors of the coming fall. Our book has gotten some really nice reviews --- something that I did not anticipate. Thank you so much for your support --- I hope you like "Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn"!

A New Look

Here's another sneak from "Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn"
coming out 2016 through Henry Holt.

Drawing for Cloud Country

Here's a drawing I did for Noah Klocek. His new picture book "Cloud Country"
(Disney Hyperion) is coming out soon. Me and a good dozen artists were honored
to do inspired art for Noah's new book. When you've got the time, check out
"Cloud Country"!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn

A sneak preview of the cover to my debut picture book as author/illustrator! We're still working out the printing, but everything looks really nice. Official publishing is late summer 2016 through Henry Holt/Macmillan. I'm not sure how to feel at this point --- a mixture of exhausted and grateful. More later!

Almost Ready

First set of proofs for "Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn"!

Something In The Works

A rough for a new picture book (who knows what it'll look like later!).

Flowers Are Calling

My new HMH book "Flowers Are Calling" is officially published! This is my second book with the wonderful Rita Gray, and I hope you like the results of all our hard work. You can find a copy here, or really at any book vendor. Thanks very much!

The Dinner That Cooked Itself: Coming Soon!

The Dinner That Cooked Itself is coming soon! This is our first book with Flying Eye Books, and we're excited to announce its publishing dates this November in the UK and December in the US. Jenn and I will have a signing in San Francisco, and there's even a cool video that I'll release soon. More later!

Release Day!

Have You Heard The Nesting Bird? is officially published today!

The Silk Weaver's Daughter

A work in progress from a new picture book I'm working on...

The Autumn Book Experiment #1

A sketch from my personal book that I'm using for my new Art of Kenard Pak facebook page. There isn't much up yet, but I plan to update it like blogger.
Please stop by and visit!

My personal book has made good progress, and I'm hoping to have a dummy for my editor somewhere before summer 2014.  The writing is there, just needs the little bit that determines everthing. Meanwhile, I'm readying some kind of promotion for the release of my first book Have You Heard The Nesting Bird?  The release date is March 18th, and I'll update you with further news.  Other good news: I'm working on a second picture book!  More on that soon...

Regulars on Hollins St.

More characters from my ongoing project.  It's a picture book,
inspired by Sasek, Andrew Wyeth, WG Sebald, and my own
childhood memories of growing up in and around Baltimore.
I really like that Limbo game: how the story is a backdrop and
what you experience is the mood and remnants of the story.
